I’ve been watching this bird, a couple blocks from my apartment, who takes the sun most late afternoons from various perches near Avenue A mostly facing west toward the prevailing wind on St. Mark’s Place in the East Village, New York City. It’s a magnificent red tailed hawk. I haven’t seen it in flight yet. People walk under it unaware of its watchful eye. It reminds me of time spent on a very special island in Maine.
